Pelvic Floor Therapy

What is Pelvic Floor work?

Pelvic floor work addresses a range of experiences in all stages of life. It may be something you've been curious about, or maybe you’ve known you’ve needed this work for some time but haven’t found the time, space, or synchronicity to say yes.

Many folks who have the female reproductive system find themselves disconnected from this part of their body, and incontinence, prolapse, back pain, pelvic pain, pain with sex, numbness, and overall discomfort are all conditions too many beings struggle with not knowing where or how to get help.

If you or someone you know has experienced low-grade vaginal or pelvic discomfort that has been there for so long, it may have acclimated without question and the belief that it could be different is no more a thought.

What can I expect in the first session and ongoing treatments?

Our pelvis is the root from which our body functions optimally.

Your initial session will primarily be time to discuss what’s presently happening for you, what you are seeking or longing for, and an assessment to make a treatment plan moving forward — whether one session or a series of sessions. Things to do at home will also be supplied depending on your preferences.

This will be a time to make a unique treatment plan just for you.

If you feel a call, trust your gut. Your body is wise.

Treatments involve accessing the uterus, sacrum, and hips; this includes an internal assessment of vaginal strength and tonicity. You’ll be guided through therapeutic breath work and simple exercises to do at home if applicable and if you desire. When internal work is done, it’s a combination of assessment, trigger-point therapy, and myofascial release, just like treating anywhere else in the body.

There will be lots of dialogue to ensure your comfort and that you know exactly what is happening. Each treatment will be approached differently, Abby will only use techniques that you are comfortable with and offer options to help manage pain or other pelvic health conditions. Space will be held for treatments to be an incredibly restorative and nourishing experience.

If you are unsure if you could benefit or if this is for you, let us know, and Abby will touch base with you in a short call or email.

The pelvis is a profoundly intimate part of one's body, and these sessions are offered with the utmost respect.
